Project Overview
The Challenge
DataBuddy is a boutique data consultancy dedicated to arming mission-driven companies with the superpower of data. Big data is often synonymous with big companies and big budgets. DataBuddy’s goal is to make it more accessible to small companies through a unique blend of business analysis, data science, and teaching. As a new company breaking into the space, the challenge for this project was to position DataBuddy as the solution to big data’s barriers to entry, and to create a look-and-feel for the brand that felt legitimate, capable, and approachable.
The Solution
We created a new brand identity that revolves around an expressive and adaptable primary logo mark. The result was a playful, bold, and approachable design system that supports DataBuddy’s uniquely human-focused approach.

The cornerstone of this visual identity is the logo’s symbol, which serves as a versatile mascot for the DataBuddy brand. Constructed using familiar coding text characters, the symbol was designed to change and adapt based on its context, and provides a uniquely human quality to the brand expression.
